Vice Foreign Minister Kong Xuanyou awarded by Pakistan

On May 13th, the Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing held an investiture ceremony in which Hilal-e-Quaid-e-Azam civil award was conferred on Kong Xuanyou, the Vice Foreign Minister of China. Kong, who currently serves as Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs for Asia and as Special Representative of the Chinese Government on the Korean Peninsula Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, received the award for his work on further strengthening China-Pakistan relations.

As the current Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs for Asia and as the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs between 2015 and 2017, Kong led the Pakistan-China Strategic Dialogue aimed at promoting bilateral relations between the two countries. In the ceremony, Kong was also acknowledged for enabling high-level visits, including President Xi Jinping’s visit to Pakistan in 2015, and for launching and subsequently consolidating CPEC, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

The Hilal-e-Quaid-e-Azam award was conferred on Kong by Masood Khalid, the Ambassador of Pakistan to China, on behalf of Pakistani President Arif Alvi.
